Brands offer modern travel kits
In Cassandra’s most recent Home & Away Report we found that young travelers are looking to brands to help alleviate the pain points of travel, allowing them to focus on the joys instead. To this end, brands are releasing a new crop of curated travel kits that allow young consumers to travel in style, minus the stress.
Ben Lido is a recently-launched e-commerce platform that only sells travel kits, allowing customers to purchase TSA-friendly sets of toiletries and beauty and grooming products that are already curated—seen in the brand’s The Essentials and The Luxury kits, with each curated kit containing options for both men and women—along with an option to fully customize a kit, from the bag it comes in to the specific products it contains. The customizable options will appeal to young consumers who have a proven penchant for customization across all areas of their lives. The brand offers a one-time purchase option alongside a subscription model for more frequent travelers.
Direct-to-consumer luggage brand Away is meeting consumer desire for high design combined with durable functionality, as well as reaching consumers during captive time in an airport, in its minimalist luggage offerings. This year, Away released three Mini Suitcase Gift Sets—dubbed The Essential Set, The Beauty Set, and The Grooming Set—which included TSA-approved skincare products that were delightfully packaged in a mini version of the brand’s unbreakable polycarbonate suitcases. The sets were priced at $65 and $75 while the mini suitcases themselves were available for purchase for $35.
AESOP X RIMOWA
Last fall, premium European luggage purveyor Rimowa teamed up with skincare brand Aesop to create a limited-edition Köln travel kit to offer discerning travelers a chance to nab their jetsetting essentials in one elegant package. The currently sold-out set includes a curated offering of Aesop’s best-selling beauty and grooming products nestled in a sleek Rimowa aluminum case that matches the brand’s larger luggage offerings, similar to Away’s Mini Suitcase Gift Sets. Priced at $500, the Köln travel kit positions itself as a luxury for consumers who prioritize travel and have the monetary means to support it.
