One in six members of Gen Z identify as LGBTQ, according to a recent Gallup poll. From media outlets to retail, these owners get why safe spaces for LGBTQs are key. Read below to learn more about their inspiring business objectives.

Seeking inspiration, but at a loss? Look no further than Them. This online media outlet with a weekly newsletter, owned by Condé Nast, reports on everything culturally relevant to the LGBTQ community and gives voice to their stories. From entertainment coverage to political policy, Them promises to send “the best of what’s queer, right to your inbox.” This publication was started by Millennial and former director of Teen Vogue, Phillip Picardi.

In our recent Small Biz, Big Impact Cassandra Daily article, we profiled innovation in digital business and the independent artists behind the scenes. Otherwild, an e-commerce site with a brick-and-mortar space in Los Angeles, can be added to that list. As a “queer-identified woman-owned store,” this company features fun, high-quality, handmade, and ethically-sourced products across apparel, accessories, and home goods. They also have their own lo/zero waste shop known as Otherwild General. Shopping on Otherwild is a win for the environment, the LGBTQ artist community, and for the consumer.
