Spilling the Tea
Summertime Drinks
For the past two weeks, most parts of the country have been experiencing a heat wave, and thinking about all things that can help keep us cool. With this in mind, we turn our attention to Iced Tea. In Cassandra’s recent Food & Beverage Report, we learned that 57% of all Gen Z Trendsetters consumed Tea in the afternoon (compared to only 30% who report drinking coffee). Below, we look at some of the hot (pun intended!) tea trends we are seeing this summer.
BROOKLYN BEST
Founded in 2020 by two native New Yorkers, Brooklyn Best is a collection of low-sugar iced tea and lemonade beverages, made with organic ingredients, real fruit juice and no artificial sweeteners. Embracing their family roots in Brooklyn, the brand pays tribute to their love for the borough, and delivers products with half the sugar removed. For summer, we particularly like their mango tea.
SOUTHERN BREEZE
Inspired by the South, Southern Breeze contains no sugar, calories or carbs. They pre-sweeten their blended teas so that the calories are removed, but maintains the sweet tea taste. Based in Georgia, the brand’s mission is “to bring our Sweeties an easier way to make Southern-style tea without all the sugar or guilt”.
LIQUID DEATH
Last year, Gen Z favorite Liquid Death launched their line of canned iced teas. Available in flavors such as “Grim Leafer”, “Rest in Peach” and “Dead Billionaire (aka Armless Palmer)”, these iced teas are now available nationally. And certainly live up to Liquid Death’s cheeky brand promise of “hating corporate marketing as much as you do.”
