GINGERBREAD NYC: THE GREAT BOROUGH BAKE-OFF

This holiday season, the Museum of the City of New York (MCNY) is hosting Gingerbread NYC: The Great Borough Bake-Off, its first-ever gingerbread competition. Running from November 11 to January 8, MCNY invited top bakeries, including L'Appartement 4F in Brooklyn and Bruno's Bakery in Staten Island, as well as local amateur bakers to create gingerbread displays that represent their neighborhoods, inspired by the theme “Winter in New York.” The impressive submissions, which represent all five boroughs of New York, are currently on display at MCNY, located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

HARRODS X DIOR GINGERBREAD HOUSE

Meanwhile, in London, Dior has transformed Harrods into a giant gingerbread house for the holidays, marking the historic London department store’s biggest brand takeover in history. Dior nixed the usual red and green holiday colorway for gingerbread-inspired hues (think cookie brown and powdered sugar white), evoking warm and cozy feelings. The takeover includes 44 windows, the entire facade of the Knightsbridge store, a café, and two pop-up shops: one, a gift shop with walls made to look like iced gingerbread; the other, a gingerbread house representing Monsieur Dior’s atelier. Even better, real gingerbread cookies in the shape of some of Dior’s most iconic pieces are available at Le Café Dior – though they may very well be too pretty to eat.

POP-TART’S GINGERBREAD ZILLOW LISTING

In celebration of the return of the Gingerbread Pop-Tart – a flavor that hasn’t been on shelves for nearly a decade – Kellogg teamed up with Zillow to list the first-ever Gingerbread Pop-Tarts house, which includes details like a “handspun Eggo Frosted Maple Flavor area rug” and a “frosted Chocolate Chip archway.” Clicking on the Zillow listing will lead fans to a landing page with directions about how to create their own Pop-Tart gingerbread houses for the chance to win $15,000 that they can put toward their own very real mortgage.
