CASSANDRA SESSIONS 2023
ICYMI
Last week, we hosted our annual Cassandra Sessions, “That’s so Aesthetic – the Gen Z Vibe and Its Reverberation in the Market," which examined how integral aesthetics are to Gen Zs identity and the implications of this for businesses and brands. Sessions is Cassandra’s IRL event that gives our clients the opportunity to see and learn from our latest research and insights. Attendees at this year’s event walked out with a much better idea of how to relate and connect to a new era of consumers.
Below is an overview of the jam-packed morning, which included presentations from Cassandra, external industry guests, a creators’ Panel, and a live Gen Z Trendsetter focus group. Keep an eye out for future Dailies over the next two weeks, as we will share more details about what we learned in each of the sessions at the event.
KICKING IT OFF
The morning kicked off with our keynote speaker, Alex Center, the Brooklyn-based Creative Director and Founder of the award-winning branding studio CENTER. Alex shared insights about how he helps build brands that Gen Zs care about.
CASSANDRA’S TAKE ON THE TOPIC
Cassandra next talked about what makes aesthetics so different for Gen Zs (and Gen Alphas) and why it is an important topic to explore now. To really embrace the role aesthetics plays and to “get the vibes right,” it is critical for businesses to understand how Gen Zs curate every single element in their pursuit of crafting their own personal narrative.
CASE STUDIES FROM THE FIELD
We then heard from Jeff Werderman of Pentel and Bethany Braun-Silva, host of The Breakdown with Bethany, with their perspectives on aesthetics and the role that they play within their respective businesses and organizations.
CREATORS IN THEIR OWN WORDS
We were lucky enough to have four great Creators join us on the stage at Sessions. They each talked about their own personal aesthetic, how that comes through in their own work, and what they see in their interactions with their audiences.
HEARING FROM GEN Z
Lastly, and perhaps the highlight of the morning, was the opportunity for all in attendance to hear from a group of seven Gen Z Trendsetters in a live, moderated focus group. They talked about the brands that vibe with their aesthetic, the brands that don’t, and why. This Daily will be a must-read!
Lastly, we would like to give a shout-out to Natalie’s Juice, one of our sponsors who provided beverages to all attendees!
