Videos depicting the testimony of young women claiming to have been punched in the face by strangers in New York City have been circulating online, sparking widespread discussions trying to track possible suspects, tips on self defense, and even speculating about explanations for this phenomenon. What started as surprisingly many TikTok videos from young women recounting incidents of being assaulted in the Union Square neighborhood has now evolved into a national conversation. The more views the videos got, the more videos popped up. The engagement of these clips rose quickly, particularly one by content creator Halley Mcgookin (@halleykate on TikTok) reached over 48 Million reproductions. The NYPD has confirmed arrests and charges related to these incidents, but questions remain about the overall safety of public spaces for young women with many users now reconsidering visiting the city thanks to these videos

KEVIN BACON GOES TO PROM

Students had been campaigning for Bacon to attend their prom on social media using #bacontopayson and finding ways to support the actor’s foundation SixDegrees. Their efforts paid off when Bacon confirmed his visit during a live segment on TODAY. He expressed his admiration for the students' dedication and creativity, emphasizing the impact of the film and the school on his life.
